It’s been a while since I last posted and the only excuse I can give is that life got in the way. I recently started up at a new job which slightly curtailed my research efforts. However, I’ve managed to pull together a couple screens on the various countries that I want to look at and thought it worthwhile to share.
The first screen I’ve done is Singapore:
From the 20 companies I’ve decided to focus on:
CSF – Consciencefood Holdings – I like the protein plays and while noodles might not be the most nutritious source of sustenance the ROE and valuation looks alright + it has Indonesian exposure.
SOH – STX OSV Holdings – Builds support vessels used in the oil and gas exploration and production.
OSIM – OSIM International – Producing life-style products in the form of massage chairs and other miscellaneous body needers and proders OSIM is able to generate substantial magins and has an interesting concept that appears to appeal to the growing upper middle class.
I’ve tried to stay away from the S-chips (Chinese companies listed on the Singapore exchange) in the first pass and have focused on companies that have a positive FCF.
I’m also going to add an outlier to the list for interests sake. I’m going to look at Sino Grandness because it has interests in Europe and the US and it’s the first time I’ve run the ruler over an S-chip.
SFGI – Sino Grandness Food Industry – Simple food cannery, not an exciting business but it’s able to generate some good returns on the capital employed (however the CF numbers might be questionable.
If you have any opinions on the companies I’m looking at or have decided to stay away from please post a comment below.
I don’t currently have any active positions in the companies mentioned but may initiate positions within the next 30 days.
